So, this means I’ve still got a general rating.
This has been doing the rounds, but I saw it first at Claire’s and stole it ‘cos I like it.
Archive for June, 2007So, this means I’ve still got a general rating. This has been doing the rounds, but I saw it first at Claire’s and stole it ‘cos I like it. I was tagged a little while ago by the fabulous Kai – aka the Buzz Queen. INSTRUCTIONS: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot, like so: 1. Holly’s Corner Next select five people to tag: 1. Jams (as I owe you a tag I can only think of a couple of others. Anyone want to take this on for a free link?! Let me know. Then answer the following questions: What were you doing 10 years ago? Ten years ago I was still living in London and had been working for the Met for 2 years. I was also heading towards my 21st birthday and had numerous celebrations planned. What were you doing 1 year ago? Oh, not one I want to remember. I was in moving house hell, moving swiftly on… Five snacks you enjoy: 1. Pizza Five songs to which you know all the lyrics: I can’t think of any specific ones I could pick out. I tend to know all the lyrics of the current albums I’m listening too, just only when they start to play and I sing along. Five things you would do if you were a millionaire: 1. Buy a house or 2. Five bad habits: 1. Forgetting to return phone calls, letters emails etc. Five things you like doing: 1. Reading. Five things you would never wear again: 1. Anything neon. Five favorite toys: 1. My Computer. So I’ve finally done it Kai. Aren’t you glad you asked? I mentioned some time ago that I’d entered Blogging to Fame. I just heard today that I’m through the first round of 50 pre-selected blogs! Thanks to all of you that have voted for me so far. May I ask that any of you that like my blog and haven’t already voted, please click on the button below and vote for me. Every vote is much appreciated!

Wordless Wednesday #10Posted by Alison in History, Photos, Places to go, Wordless Wednesday
Congratulations to my sister-in-law Steph for completing another Race for Life in a very cold and wet Aberdeen, raising more than £215 for cancer research. Picture evidence can be seen over at Thermal. I love to find new photographers work to look at, and it’s very often on the web that I do this. This is just one picture by the fabulous Feng Jiang, of China. Check out the others posted here.
Well worth a visit is Innocent English, always makes me smile. Take a look at these adverts:
Having a day off from the castle this week. I’ve got family coming to stay on Monday, and I promised myself I’d spend some time sorting myself and the house out. Of course, that didn’t stop me doing a little shopping in between. My favourite antique shop is in the next large town which is about 20-30 minutes away by car. The owner is really helpful and helps me date my brooches and offers general advice. She also has the most beautiful antique ring collection I’ve ever seen – and she lets me play with them to see how they look. She knows I love Victorian jewellery, and was sorting out all her Victorian rings for me to look at. I’ve also got the tiniest fingers ever and it causes problems for me, so we christened them my ‘Victorian hands’ as Victorian rings nearly always fit me! No visit is complete however, without me leaving with something nice, so I have a ‘new’ ring added to my collection from 1892. Must sort out that cleaning and tidying up now, *sigh* Some of you that visit this blog regularly will know that I really admire Kathryn’s work. So much so, I asked her to paint my favourite Eleanor Cross at Geddington. A fab job she made of it too. Kathryn is having a show in London on 24 June 2007, and if any of you are in the area, do pop in, have a look and say hello from me. Those of you that are too far away, why don’t you treat yourselves to one of Kathryn’s paintings on her website.
