Collecting Eleanor

As most of you will know who read this blog regularly, I am interested in all thing Eleanor of Castile. About 2 years ago I starting collecting books and photographs of Eleanor and her memorials, my favourites being old engravings. These have usually come from antique books, and I love to find really unusual ones.

The earliest one I have of the Geddington Cross dates from the 1700s I think, but the dated ones come from 1800-1820 to 1878. Once I have recorded all these, they will be transferred over to my website. A process I have long neglected, I now have the time to work on it, so hopefully you will see great improvements soon!

At last, someone else who has fallen under Eleanor’s spell!!! I have two sites left then I have visited each of the Queens resting places to take photo’s etc for a ‘scrapbook’.
Favourite cross is Hardingstone but most impressive/awe inspiring place was standing next to the tomb of Eleanors viscera in Lincoln cathedral.
Look forward to revisiting this site!
    Carol.
