There isn’t a Raeburn expert out there that can help is there?  One of my own projects is to identify whether paintings at the Castle that are identified as ‘after Raeburn’ are just from the school or circle, or whether they were copies made after the original was sold by the family.

I’ve looked at many books about Raeburn, but it usually only lists the most popular of his portrait works, and other information found is from the galleries that actually hold pieces of his work.

What I need is a really good catalogue, to see if the paintings are listed.  No luck so far though…

I’ve found some interesting information about one of the Castle paintings though, I shall tell more about that later.
