Image Theft
Posted by Alison under: BlahBlahBlah; Internet .
I always hoped that I would never have to write about this.
As readers will know, I take photographs for my own pleasure as well as displaying them here, as many of you have stated how much you enjoy seeing them.
By chance today, whilst checking my website stats, I noticed a website which I strongly believe has stolen my header image of Castle Fraser to use on their website. To add insult to injury, they have altered the size of it slightly, and stamped it with their own web address as if they own it.
This has made me very angry indeed, and I have emailed the site to ask them about it. It has also made me reconsider whether it is worth showing my photographs at all, if people out there only want to steal them.
I will let you know if I get a response, though I doubt I will, I refuse to advertise the site’s web address here to get them more hits.
Update: I have had no response to my email, but on rechecking the site 24 hours later, I believe they have removed my image. So, fingers crossed everyone that they have responded as they should. Thanks for all your messages about this. I now have a contingency plan should this ever happen again.

This is not good!
I hope you hear from them soon, the cheeky buggers.
I would let anyone use my photos, if they ask first that is.

David Airey has suffered this recently, and has posted an elegant solution that I shall implement shortly
The fact it’s in your stats suggests they’re hotlinking it direct from your site-given that the photo is a crop of a larger image you have them bang to rights for legal action - just in case they’re reading this……

Hopefully the fact that you’ve contacted them will be enough for them to take it down.
Claire is right - the cheeky buggers!!
