Ok, Alison, I give up. I looked and looked at the castles listed on ‘Scenic Scotland’ and couldn’t find yours. Can you go up in there?
A bag drop is where you drop off your wife golf bags (from your car) when you are renting a driving golf cart.

  14. Bodhipaksa says:

The crow-step gables make me think this is in Scotland (East Coast?), although I don’t think I’ve seen this particular building.

  15. Couch Potato says:

    Great images and template!

  16. oldqueen44 says:

    You post amazing pictures

  17. Aldon Hynes says:

Love the sepia. We’ve just moved, so my WW is showing the pile of boxes, without much architectural details.

I love old buildings like this!

  20. zam says:

Lovely. Enchanting. Castles always have that enigmatic air in them. Where is this?

  21. Brian says:

Love the way the field stone was used.

  22. Jeremy says:

The postponing of the picture is a nice touch as well is the perspective from the ground up which makes the towers look imposing. Where is it? Happy WW.

  23. Alison says:

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone, had server issues this end! This is, as Chris pointed out at the top Tolquhon Castle in Scotland. It’s looked after by Historic Scotland Jim, so you should find it on their website, if nowhere else! It’s a massive ruin, and you can go up in the towers, and lower down too. I got lots of pictures. It even still has it’s well. It was owned latterly at least by the Forbes family until money problems forced them to give it up. It has pretty much been left ever since, I think at one stage being used to house a farm worker!

Thanks for visiting! I’m off now to make sure I’ve visited you all

  24. Claire says:

I am here at last :)
I think Tolquhon looks spooky, did you go into the lower bits?

  25. Alison says:

I did, it was a bit creepy in places, especially when I turned a corner and nearly bumped into a foreign tourist!

  26. Claire says:

    God damn tourists :)

    spooky photos?

  27. Alison says:

    Yep, will show them soon…

  28. Melissa says:

  29. I love your pictures – I feel like I can make a story out of each one – Happy WW!

  30. Stine says:

There’s an award for you over at my place…
