wow what a nice shot.. you can see the hills from way down, down below.. hope you didn’t hurt yourself taking such a wondeful picture.. that happens to me once in a while.. oh well what we would do for a that perfect shot!
Wonderful perspective, I like the way each element leads my eye down the wall. This is one of those pictures I could look at again and again and see something new every time!
I always wanted my own castle too, but maybe that’s coming true now I took the photo, I think, whilst balanced on some steps, the building is mostly ruined but still majestic. It was lived in as recently as the 1820s, but then left to disrepair. I love to get my pictures of historic places out into the world for everyone to see, and I do hope that we continue to save as many as possible. We lost far too many in England in the 1920s and 30s.
No Budgies were harmed in the making of this post (Stine). Oh, and the cafe’s lovely…
Nice one Alison. Where was this taken?
Ha your back! that is a great shot. Did you have to squish right against the wall to get the shot?
…WOW!!!

Nice location. Hope we can protect our historical buildings for centuries to come.
Between you and Chris, you are probably doing more to promote the UK than Fodors.
Great shot Alison!
Yet another perfect picture.
Is that the staff quarters in the background?
My favourite memory of visiting here was the cafe: Hmm, strawberries & cream….
More beautiful castles… This is one sight you will never get bored of.
I thought at first it was like a photo I have of a building in Beechworth Australia, then the left side showed up and I thought, oh it’s a castle lol.
Nicely done..I really like this one!
