I’m assuming Eleanor of Acquitaine, of course. I’ve always enjoyed reading about her….she was a very strong woman in a time when the majority were not.
Thanks for the comment from those who have visited so far.
It is a statue of Eleanor of Castile, and it is situated on the front of the village church in Harby, Nottinghamshire, England. The church is just a short walk away from where the manor house stood where Eleanor died in 1290. As far as I’m aware the statue was erected within a few years of her death.
I had to laugh. This was suppose to be “wordless” Wednesday, and yet, you have to explain what the picture is! I am always happy to come here to see what is new. Hope you are having a good week Alison.
Very solemn.
Thank you for sharing
Happy WW!

Is it a castle?Who is it?Was this one from the church?

Pretty impressive, especially if that date is even remotely close to as many years as that statue has been around!

I love this picture – and I really love Eleanor. My grandmother’s name was Eleanor but, alas, no statue was erected for her.
